Johannes Kepler (1571-1630) was a German scientist, mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, and one of the principle figures the scientific revolution of his day. Holding deep Christian beliefs, much of his work can be seen as endeavouring to reconcile his conviction that the universe must be knowable, ordered with God at its centre, with the inconstancies and irregularities of what he was able to observable.
